Maxi Gilbert
Maxi Gilbert transforms light into space — and into experience. Laser beams carve out a universe where the visible and the intangible intertwine, inviting viewers to move, to feel, and to perceive actively. The installation sparks imagination and curiosity, suggesting a sensory journey in which light becomes matter and space becomes possibility.
The work
“ANTIMATERIA” is a light installation that turns illumination into expanded matter and inhabitable space. Through a high density of laser beams, the work generates a perceptual environment where form no longer depends on the physical, but becomes an event — a space to be crossed, felt, and experienced from within.
The installation combines technological spectacle with a conceptual reflection on dematerialization, energy, and perception. The beams of light function simultaneously as architecture, device, and phenomenon, creating a constant tension between the visible and the intangible.
By transforming light into experiential matter, “ANTIMATERIA” invites audiences to question the relationship between space, body, and time, proposing a way of inhabiting the work that is both sensory and intellectual. Positioned at the intersection of contemporary art, science, and technology, it offers a unique immersive experience that reshapes the perception of the urban environment and ignites the imagination.
The artist
Maxi Gilbert has built his career through an ongoing dialogue between stagecraft, technology, and light. With experience ranging from theatrical productions to international events featuring top-tier artists, he approaches lighting as an expressive language. His recent projects explore light as an immersive experience, integrating body, interaction, and perception — where the viewer activates and transforms the space, connecting art, science, and technology.
